Darya Domracheva (Belarus), winner:
It was heavy going for me today because I was only in 26th position after the first shooting having missed 2 targets. It looks like I’m even more motivated after a bad start. I especially like to compete in Antholz. I haven’t talked to my coach yet, the race way too frenzied. But he hugged me and I could read in his eyes that he was very happy.
Anastasiya Kuzmina (Slovakia), second place:
Last week I’ve been working intensely on my shooting with Juraj Sanitra and as you can see it paid off immediately. That’s why I’m so absolutely grateful to him. He’s not just a superb coach but also my psychologist. I also want to thank everyone supporting me lately. It was an exhausting race today and a test for my form. Darya and Magdalena are very strong on the course and I’m glad I had the chance to compete with them here.
Magdalena Neuner (Germany), third place:
I had three superb shootings today and made two missed targets at the last one. That just happens. I’m rather looking at the grand total and I’m rather pleased with it. I knew that it would be extremely difficult and so I had to pace myself well. This season so far has been my best of my career. Skiing is quite good anyway and I’m also much more confident at the shooting range. I’ve enjoyed my last race here in Antholz. I reminisced 2007 when my career started off with three gold medals at the world championships. It’s absolutely amazing how you’re pushed here as a German athlete, when the crowd’s cheering you up the climb. I think I’ve given myself a nice farewell gift with this third place and I think it was a great conclusion here in South Tyrol.
