This is the 31-year-old Christiansen's 29th World Cup triumph overall! On the final day of competition in Antholz, the many fans (the stadium was once again sold out) witnessed an exciting and first-rate mass start, which, as has become commonplace, was dominated by Norway. Christiansen was extremely swift on his skis, only missing one shot and crossing the finish line in just 35 minutes 51.4 seconds. Second place went to his team-mate Johannes Dale-Skjevdal (+10.7 seconds), with Vebjørn Sørum rounding off the podium. Meanwhile, fourth place went to Frenchman Quentin Fillon Maillet, who was actually in second place going into the final lap. Overall World Cup leader and Antholz dominator Johannes Thingnes Bø had to settle for 5th place this time, while his brother Tarjei finished 6th.

"Azzurri" disappoint

The Italian biathletes, on the other hand, suffered a disappointing finish. Local hero Lukas Hofer got off to a good start, but had to settle for 20th place after three misses at the shooting range, with Didier Bionaz right behind him. Tommaso Giacomel, who was expected to deliver a surprise, failed altogether at the shooting range today (eight misses) and ultimately finished in 27th place.

The 2024 Biathlon World Cup in Antholz will wrap up this afternoon at 2:45 pm with the women's Mass Start Race. For Italy, all eyes will be on Lisa Vittozzi. Dorothea Wierer from Rasen will not be competing as she intends to prepare for the World Championships in the Czech Republic.
