Women’s 10 km Pursuit

Women’s 10 km Pursuit

A competition with plenty of shooting

In this second women’s event there is considerably more shooting; the biathletes must demonstrate their marksmanship a total of four times in the pursuit. Changes of leader, and surprises, are the order of the day.
In the pursuit, the changeover between fast racing and concentrated shooting occurs four times in total. The main favourite, who has already celebrated many victories during her career, laid down a superb performance in the 2018 World Cup pursuit: she is Laura Dahlmeier of Germany. What do you think - will she be able to pull away from the other women again this season?

Local heroine Dorothea Wierer also has good chances of a high ranking. In the last World Cup she duelled with Darya Domracheva (BRL), who has subsequently withdrawn. In the last hundred metres before the finish, Wierer overtook the Belarusian and took second place. Ninth place was taken by the Italian Lisa Vittozi. You should take note of the wind conditions in the 2019 World Cup, which have a big impact on how accurate the biathletes are with their aim.
Women’s 10 km Pursuit
A total of 60 woman athletes will be competing in the pursuit. Look forward to the many shooting rounds, which alternate between lying and standing positions. These contribute significantly to enabling some biathletes to climb up the rankings, while others fall drastically.
