Single Mixed Relay

Single Mixed Relay

It’s about Teamwork

Only the team that works well together, is fast on the track and works quickly and accurately on the shooting range can win the race in the end.

One woman and one man from each nation compete for medals in this exciting and varied competition. Only those who shoot quickly and safely and put their foot down on the short laps stay ahead. One should not afford any mistakes here, because this means immediately a backlog. In the breaks it is important to regenerate well, because it's about time to go back to the cross-country ski run. Which team manages best to adjust to this new flexible discipline?

ALL ABOUT THE SINGLE MIXED RELAY
The Single-Mixed Relay is the youngest format in the biathlon sport. Each nation provides a team of one woman and one man, with each athlete running a total of 6 kilometres, divided into 4 laps. Whether men or women start first is decided before each event. If the women start, the men run an additional 1.5km final lap at the end or vice versa. The procedure is identical to the mixed relay, except that each runner has to run twice because there are only two athletes instead of four. During the waiting time in the changing area, the athletes' skis may be prepared but not changed. For each shooting there are three extra rounds, link in every relay format. If a target is still missed, a shortened penalty loop (75 metres) must be run.
