Day two of the 2023 World Cup in Antholz is devoted wholly to the men’s sprint. Three rounds, two shooting ranges: It remains to be seen which biathlete will manage to stand out from the world's elite.

The last season demonstrated how thrilling the sprint discipline can be. This year, once again, numerous biathletes from many countries will stand at the starting line for the World Cup. They have to complete a course of 10 km plus a total of two shooting rounds. Be fascinated by who takes too long during the shooting and who takes aim in hazardous fashion.

While the women ski 7.5 km and the men 10 km in sprint competitions, the format is exactly the same: it's a time-trial competition with two shooting stages, 1 prone and 1 standing. Each missed target results in a penalty loop of 150m. Competitors start at 30-second intervals, but under particular circumstances, the jury can opt for longer or shorter intervals. The winner is determined by the fastest time at finish, which means in principle that any start number can be the winner.
